Héctor Sandoval, better known in techno circles as Tensal, is back with a powerful four-track EP on Concrete Records. The release bridges his Detroit techno roots with hypnotic, floor-focused rhythms, balancing precision and intimacy in a way only Tensal can. ‘Behind Consciousness’ is out now, order on Bandcamp.
Since launching his solo project in 2014, Sandoval has channeled his most personal vision of techno through Tensal, blending diverse rhythms and textures into a signature sound. Alongside his own imprint, Tensal Ltd, he’s released on key labels including Mord, Modularz, Perc Trax, Blueprint, PoleGroup, Soma, and more, including his first LP on Soma in 2018.
Tensal’s work has also attracted remixes for artists like Slam, Mike Parker, Shed, Pangaea, and Shifted, while his tracks are supported by techno heavyweights such as Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Ellen Allien, and DVS1. His DJ sets, largely drawn from his own productions, have taken him to over 60 countries, including gigs at Berghain, Tresor, Awakenings, and Fabrik.
Beyond Tensal, Sandoval continues to explore new sonic territories. Highlights include his collaboration Komando Terrorismo Sonico (K.T.S.) in 2021, the vinyl-only Syndromania project in 2022, releases on BPitch Control in 2023, and recent collaborations with Vince Watson and on Mord in 2024–2025.
With this new EP, Tensal cements his status as one of techno’s most respected voices, delivering industrial sound and brutal statement that honor the genre’s roots while pushing it forward with intense, floor-ready energy.
