Police have thwarted a huge illegal rave for more than a thousand people on moorland near Oldham, UK.
Following a tip-off that a group of 30 to 40 young people were seen heading into Crompton Moor near Shaw last night, officers were dispatched to the scene.
Police imposed a dispersal order and turned a number of others away as they arrived at the scene.
Officers also seized large speakers and they are now trying to identify and track down the organisers.
They believe, due to the location of the planned rave, more than a thousand people could have attended the event, a clear breach of lockdown rules.
Residents called police at around 10.30pm yesterday to report that a group of 30 to 40 people were heading into Crompton Moor for an unlicensed music event even though it was only 6C at the time.
Officers were called and imposed a ‘section 35’ dispersal order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
They turned a number of people away as they were arriving, mostly young adults in taxis. Read the full story here.
