The tragic events at Time Warp Argentina have lead to consequences, which will affect the whole club industry in Buenos Aires.
It’s been stated, that a Judge ordered to close all nightclubs and venues until “A safety plan is established.” First, the local government has banned all large-scale events and now all dancing to both recorded or live music is prohibited until the local drug laws will be enforced, and there will be a timetable of venue inspections.
The deaths of six people on the first night of Time Warp festival are still under investigation, but it’s known that they were due to drug overdoses. There are a lot of discussions going on as in the official circles, as in the social media and it’s becoming clear that the festival was overcrowded, which led to overheating and lack of air. The event attendants complain that they had to wait for more than an hour to buy a bottle of water and there were about 100 toilets to serve about 20,000 crowd.
The deceased were allegedly seen taking a few pills at once, which is simply a rumor. The pills are rumored to have been MDMA-based.
About 30 people have been arrested on different charges after the Time Warp tragedy. One of the charges is “facilitating a place to purchase controlled substances”.

The German company which owns the Time Warp brand has released a statement that they are not in any way responsible for the organisation of the festival. A local company called Dell Producciones has been the responsible part, and all 30 people who have been arrested are associated with them. The president of Dell Producciones turned himself in voluntarily.
The deaths of six young people are a tragedy, the responsible part should be punished, but what goes on in Buenos Aires gives birth to suspicions that it’may be a witch hunt aiming to tighten some knots. We’ve already remembered 1994 in the UK, when a bill, forbidding more than two people gathering wherever and it led to tens of thousands of people going on strikes all over the country.
Whatever is going on, one thing is clear – be smart, stay hydrated and make a right choice when you attend a large scale event or a packed club. Sometimes it’s better to leave for another place, than to stay even if you love the music.
