The new measure, which is expected to come into effect in February, is part of a wider plan to quieten the tourist hotspot.
According to RA, Ibiza’s San Antonio council has proposed the earlier closing time of 3 AM for all clubs and bars in the area.
The new regulation, which would reduce closing times from 5 AM in summer and 6 AM in winter, is the latest in a string of restrictions aimed at limiting noise pollution in and around the West End, a zone popular with tourists.
It’s not only clubs and bars that will be affected by the new rules. All outdoor bar terraces will be forced to shut by 11 PM (the cut-off this summer was 2 AM), while shops can only receive customers inside the premises from 11 PM onwards, to avoid long queues forming outside. All late-night establishments in the West End will also have to install soundproofing measures, including double doors, sound limiters and airtight windows.
