Latest research taken by Australian researchers at the Black Dog Institute was completed with the new evidence that suggest ketamine can cure or end depression.
Results of their study, published in the latest American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, provide preliminary evidence that ketamine is effective as an antidepressant.
Although there were numerous cases of using ketamine to end depression earlier, this was world’s first randomized control trial. Rave drug has long been used as a sedative and none of the participants experienced problematic side effects with smaller doses of ketamine that were increased over a period of five weeks.
The same scientists announced further study, a three-year trial to test the possible side effects. Trial will be the world’s largest in this field, it will include 200 people from Australian and New Zealand.
