FOLD is a new nightclub opening in east London, as Mixmag reports.
The 600-capacity venue is above a print factory on an industrial estate near Canning Town and Star Lane. While Saturday parties will go for 24 hours, Friday nights will run “til late” and mid-week events will end at 3am.
FOLD, which is equipped with a 110 decibel soundsystem, opens on August 18 at midday, running until the next day. Queer parties Homodrop and Resis’dance will both be present, as well as Dimensions, Make Me, World Unknown, Body Hammer and more.
Seb Glover, co-founder of FOLD, said: “London, unlike other leading European cities such as Berlin or Amsterdam, has struggled in recent times. Gentrifying forces has put huge pressures on artists and musicians, with many leaving as a result.
Licensed venues, which is where artists and DJs are predominantly able to earn their living have come under attack. What we have created at FOLD is a new home, tucked away from the pressures of the city, a place where you can listen to extended sets on a tuned soundsystem tailored to the specifications of the room to maximise the experience of the space.
FOLD, ran by The Shapes Collective, will adopt a no-photo policy to coincide with its focus on “inclusivity, togetherness, dancing.”
