Alfredo Fiorito, the Argentinian DJ celebrated as a pioneer of the Balearic Beat and a key figure in the global dance music scene, has passed away at the age of 71. Fiorito, often referred to as the “Father of Balearic Beat,” suffered a stroke in 2021. In recent years, fundraisers were organized to help cover his living expenses and medical treatments. Despite the support he received, his health challenges ultimately led to his passing.
Amnesia Ibiza, the renowned nightclub where Alfredo played a pivotal role in shaping the island’s sound during the 1980s, announced the news of his death. In a heartfelt Instagram tribute, the club wrote:
“Dear Alfredo, Thank you for the nights and beats we shared together. Your music and vision shaped the sound of Balearic Beat and the soul of Amnesia. So many memories were made through your energy, your legacy will live on our dancefloor forever. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Alfredo.”
Originally from Argentina, Alfredo moved to Ibiza in the 1970s and soon became a cornerstone of the island’s music scene.
