Since her viral HÖR Stream last year (492K views and counting), fast-rising Belgian DJ and selector
Alycia Bezgo has become an absolute must-know name. Whilst music was always a big part of her life and something she has worked hard at under the radar, her story before breaking into this full time is a very interesting one.
Before stepping behind the decks professionally, Alycia was a successful entrepreneur, running her own beauty salon and managing a dedicated team. It was a stable, conventional career that met the expectations of those around her, at a time when pursuing music full-time didn’t yet feel like a realistic option. As her profile grew and her touring schedule accelerated, she reached a crossroads. Seeing the momentum behind her music, she made the bold decision to leave the beauty industry behind and commit fully to DJing, a move that has clearly paid off.
With her busiest summer yet in full swing, Techno Station caught up with Alycia to talk about her upcoming shows, special B2Bs on the horizon, her recent Australian tour, and the influences that shaped her journey…
Hey Alycia! We’re catching you amid a very hectic European tour at the moment, fresh off the back of Boiler Room Paris, Awakenings, Extrema Outdoor… How have the shows been going?
It’s been amazing, honestly. It’s definitely been intense with all the traveling and long days, but I’m really enjoying the whole process. Every show has been different, and I feel like I’ve been growing with each one. I’m really happy with how everything has been going so far, and I’m just trying to enjoy every moment of it.
You’ve just come back from your Australian tour as well. How does the Aussie rave scene compare to Europe in your experience? Can you share a favourite moment with us from the tour?
The Australian rave scene is amazing, but it’s definitely different from Europe. It feels less niche, but people absolutely know how to party. The crowds bring so much energy and are really open to newer sounds. One funny thing I noticed was that I seemed to hear Justin Bieber in almost every clothing store I walked into. It felt like Australia still had Bieber Fever! So I started ending my sets with a Justin Bieber classic, which is something I’d never play. Every single time, the crowd completely lost it. It became a fun little tradition throughout the tour.
You’ve got some very exciting B2B shows coming up, give us the scoop…
I’m really excited because every single one of these B2Bs feels special to me. I’ll be playing with Frederic., BIIANCO, Trancemaster Krause, and ØTTA, artists I’ve admired for years. It’s surreal to go from looking up to them to now sharing the decks and telling a story together through music.
The last year has been a game changing year for your career, but music has been a big part of your life since you were young. What were some of the biggest early influences do you think that led you to a career in music?
Music has always been part of my life. My dad was a DJ, loved ’80s and ’90s music, and was also a breakdancer, so I grew up in a very musical environment. I then spent 12 years as a competitive dancer, which gave me a strong sense of rhythm and performance. Even now, music is all around me as my partner is a choreographer who works with artists. Looking back, it’s actually no surprise that I ended up pursuing a career in music 🙂

For fun, what is something that people would find surprising about you?
- I started my DJ journey playing indie dance music
- Whenever i’m not playing I often listen to James Brown, Queen, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, etc..
- I could eat kimchi and warm tomatoes as breakfast, lunch and dinner!
What are you most looking forward to this summer (shows or otherwise)?
I’m especially looking forward to the Belgian shows because they’re the festivals I used to attend myself, dancing in the crowd. Getting to play events like Tomorrowland, WECANDANCE and Voodoo Village still feels pretty surreal. I’m also spending a lot of time in the studio, so I’m hoping to have some exciting music and projects ready to share after the summer.
