Gianni and Kasbï on Blue Iris, Burning Man, Influences, and What’s Next

In the ever-evolving world of electronic music, the artists who leave the deepest impression are often those who create more than just sound — they build experiences, communities, and entire worlds around their vision. Giannni and Kasbï are two such artists, bringing together a shared passion for organic grooves, emotional storytelling, and the transformative power of music.

Through their Blue Iris Records imprint, the duo have created a platform that reflects their diverse influences, from global destinations and underground culture to the immersive spirit of Burning Man. Their journey has been shaped by exploration, connection, and a desire to push electronic music beyond the traditional boundaries of the dancefloor.

We caught up with Giannni and Kasbï to discuss the origins of Blue Iris, the inspirations behind their sound, their experiences at Burning Man, and what the future holds for their growing creative universe.

Blue Iris Records has grown into much more than a record label. Looking back to when you launched it in 2022, what was the original vision and how has it evolved since then?

First, it’s important for us to clarify that Blue Iris is the name of both our record label and our event series. We started by simply making music together in our garage, playing instruments and experimenting with sounds. One day, we decided to record our sessions and send them to some DJ friends. They started supporting our music, which encouraged us to release our tracks on streaming platforms.

From the beginning, our vision was simple: produce music that felt right to us. We always followed one golden rule every track needed a strong melody and meaningful chord progression. We never wanted to chase trends; we wanted to create timeless emotional music.

At the same time, Kasbï was the resident DJ at one of the biggest techno clubs in Lima, Peru, La Casona de Camaná, while Giannni was playing regularly across Seoul’s electronic music scene. Those different experiences helped shape our musical identity and gave us the confidence to start building Blue Iris.

Over the years, Blue Iris naturally evolved from being just a record label into a complete creative universe, combining music, events, visuals and storytelling.

Your music is often inspired by places such as Ibiza, Saint Barthélemy, Mykonos and Miami. How have travel and different cultures shaped both your sound and your outlook as artists?

Ibiza definitely played a big role. More than trying to imitate these places, our goal was to bring back everything we discovered during our travels to Saint Barthélemy and Miami.

When we launched our first Blue Iris events in St. Barths in 2023, we immediately saw there was room for something different. We wanted people to experience electronic music in another way. We quickly understood that the music alone wasn’t enough. We had to build an entire environment around it.

We brought décor from Morocco and New York, using Persian carpets, vintage lamps, fabrics and candles. Then we added fire performers, palo santo incense, live musicians and organic elements to create an immersive atmosphere. People slowly began to understand not only the music, but the feeling behind it.

That’s really how Blue Iris Events were born. Today, every event is designed as a complete experience where the music, the décor and the energy all become one.

As brothers, you’ve built Blue Iris together from the ground up. How do your individual personalities and musical influences complement each other creatively?

There is a strong sense of emotion, musicality and organic instrumentation running through both your productions and your events. Why are those elements so important to you in today’s electronic music landscape?

We discovered that the best way for us to produce music is actually to work separately. We both share the same musical vision, but instead of sitting together in the studio all day, one of us usually starts a track alone and then sends it to the other.

Listening with fresh ears makes a huge difference. Giannni instantly understands what’s missing and knows exactly how to finish the record, or sometimes it’s the other way around. That workflow has become one of our biggest strengths.

Above all, our goal is to create emotional moments. We love building tension, creating contrast and making people feel something unexpected on the dancefloor. Melody will always come before technical perfection.

We also love blending organic instruments with electronic production because it makes the music feel more human. In today’s electronic scene, where many tracks can sound similar, we believe emotion is what people remember long after the night is over.

You’ve performed everywhere from intimate beach gatherings to Burning Man and major international venues. What have been some of the experiences that have had the biggest impact on your artistic journey so far?

Burning Man. Burning Man. And Burning Man.

That place opened so many doors for us, both musically and personally. The first time we arrived there, we experienced electronic music in a completely different way. Sound was coming from every direction. We heard textures, atmospheres and details that felt almost unreal. Everything sounded alive and tangible.

More importantly, people there are focused on connecting with each other in a way that’s hard to find anywhere else. Nobody is looking at their phones. You spend days riding across the playa without checking the time. You’re simply present.

We started inviting international DJs to play at our camp, and they later invited us to theirs. That’s how we built genuine friendships.

One day, we jumped onto an art car because we heard amazing music. The DJ suddenly told us, “I completely forgot I have to go to dinner. Do you guys want to take over?” We ended up playing an improvised downtempo set for hours. More and more people gathered around the truck, the energy became magical, and it turned into one of those unforgettable Burning Man moments.

Afterwards, we invited that DJ to one of our Blue Iris events, and we’ve stayed connected ever since. Burning Man taught us that the best opportunities often happen when nothing is planned.

Kasbï’s latest single Astral offers another glimpse into the evolving Blue Iris sound, while Ulu, your upcoming collaboration, is just around the corner. What can listeners expect from this next chapter of music?

We’re continuing to explore the melodic house sound that we’ve always loved producing, but with even more energy and identity.

With tracks like Astral and Ulu, we wanted to create records that could work anywhere whether in clubs, at festivals, during a sunset session or even on a road trip. Strong basslines recorded with our Moog synthesizer, emotional melodies and powerful drops have become key elements of our sound.

This new chapter really represents the direction we want to take together. We want every track to have a recognizable melody that people can remember instantly, followed by an unexpected lead or emotional payoff that surprises the crowd.

We’re constantly searching for the balance between emotion and dancefloor energy.

As Blue Iris continues to grow internationally, what do you hope people will associate with the label and community five years from now?

Above all, we hope Blue Iris becomes a community of people who share the same positive energy and passion for discovering music.

We want to meet talented artists from all over the world, collaborate with them and continue releasing music that feels authentic rather than following trends.

Our goal is to grow the Blue Iris community as much as possible, sign incredible artists, organize bigger productions around the world and continue creating unforgettable experiences.

If, in five years, people hear the name Blue Iris and immediately think about emotion, connection, beautiful melodies and unforgettable nights, then we’ll know we’ve accomplished what we set out to build.
