Polish techno producer Karol Mozgawa, better known as DEAS, returns to ARTS with a brilliant follow-up to his hugely successful release “Geeks On Hubbard”, which spent four months at No.1 on the Beatport Techno (Deep/Raw/Hypnotic) chart.
His new EP, “Drifted Off EP”, arrives on May the 15th , and reveals another side of the artist: for the first time, Deas incorporates his own vocals into the tracks.
A multitalented producer, curator, performer, and self-confessed analogue gear enthusiast, Deas has built a strong reputation with releases on labels such as CLR, Planet Rhythm, and Dynamic Reflection.
His productions are regularly tested on the dancefloors by leading figures in the techno scene, including Richie Hawtin, Daria Kolosova, Chris Liebing and Luke Slater.
With Drifted Off, Deas delivers four powerful new tracks straight from his studio. Slightly dubby structures, a strong groove, and sharp rhythmic stabs remain the hallmarks of his sound.
Yet this time he pushes his aesthetic further, introducing melodic spoken-word elements that add a fresh layer of atmosphere and personality.
Always moving forward but never chasing trends, Deas continues to evolve organically. His music stays sexy, hypnotic, and groove-driven, while the addition of his own voice — particularly on the track “Direction” — subtly highlights the direction of his artistic development.
“No Excuse” is powerful tool to make the floor burn in every club, where the track will be played. “Out The Way” surprises with the sampled vocals and the high tempo – this song could be a perfect soundtrack to a science-fiction-movie.
