In the past couple of years, the club hailing from Tbilisi, has become a true global phenomenon thanks to the uncompromising curation and the unique background story.
Bassiani is definitely one of the most unique techno venues in the world. Club was launched back in 2014 and is located in the basement of Georgia’s national football stadium, the Dinamo arena, which was originally built in 1932.
Known for their activism and constant struggle against the more conservative forces around it, Bassiani’s overall ethos and mission managed to gather tens of thousands peaceful protesters in front of the Georgian parliament. After a very violent raid took place in the club, within hours the whole clubbing community spontaneously assembled into what has also turned out to be the biggest protest party the world has ever seen!
In just a few years, Bassiani has become a catalyst for progressive politics in a conservative society. It has also helped make Tbilisi a dream destination for techno tourists as the club’s musical direction is dominated by techno.
Bassiani is sounding perfectly with several Funktion One towers, in main floor as well as in Horoom. You come here without pretentiousness, without VIP. There is no happier and more authentic underground club where all that is important are techno and rave.
In its short existence, the club hosted many of the international significant names, and Berghain’s Function is also a resident. Bassiani’s residents NDRX and Zitto are the acts people are most eager to see, followed by underground legends such as DVS1, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Anastasia Kristensen, Marcel Fengler, Anetha, Vril, Terrence Dixon, Xosar, Efdemin, Jonas Kopp and many more.
The idea behind Bassiani was not to create a club with just the best sound system or lineup, it was to create a space of equality and tolerance for people of all sexual and religious backgrounds. Plus, the parties here end around 9 or 11 a.m.
