Boom Merchant has a gripping style that takes traditional techno grooves, and intertwines them with innovative off-kilter samples. This gives his style a unique sound that stands out from the crowd, and this release is another fine-example.

Hailing from Ireland, but currently living in Mexico, Boom Merchant has travelled the globe as a headline DJ. His DJ style finds a sweet spot between depth and aggression, which is something he also translates into the music he makes. “Kamakura” opens the release with popping percussion and slicing hi-hats, underscored by an ominous bassline with grinding tones.

“Senso-Ji” has a warped groove with a hulking bassline and soulful vocals weaving between fast-paced percussion.

“Shinbashi” is a jerkin’ track with a pumping groove led by a throbbing bassline, while cascading pads and a wonky melody create a trippy vibe.

“Different Routes Home” has clattering drums and a lurching bassline forming an intense backing track for a nostalgic vocal sample.
