Drumcode veteran Oscar L joins forces with Metodi Hristov, a newer recruit to Adam Beyer’s revered techno label, for their collab two-track EP ‘Gravity’, out now.
Madrid’s techno/tech house maestro Oscar L has a long association with Beyer’s twin labels Drumcode (‘Again’ LP, 2023, + performing at DC events) and Truesoul inc. solo EP ‘Vulture’ (2022), Dosem collab ‘Aircargo’ EP (2023), ‘Yapper’ w. Max Styler (2024). Bulgaria-based, swiftly up and coming Metodi Hristov brought his unique techno sounds to Drumcode last year, with his debut DC 2-track EP ‘Build To Destroy’. Both tracks, title track and ‘Flatline’, were included in his Sept 2024 Drumcode Radio Studio Mix live from Sofia.

If you could go back to your childhood and give your younger self some advice, what would you say?
I would prepare myself for the moments where I should’ve been less emotional. And, of course – ‘buy some bitcoin’!
You are enjoying a coffee in a cafe, and an artist comes in that you admire a lot, and you have never had the opportunity to talk to them. Would you talk to them? If yes, what would you say, and if no, why not?
Of course, if I felt that the moment is appropriate, I would approach this artist, shake their hand, and tell them they are doing a great job.
Imagine you have the opportunity to play music for the arrival of a new alien race. What track would you put on?
Something chill. I don’t want to stress them out, although I’m not gonna know what can stress them out, but let’s say their perception of stress is like ours, so here it is: Royksopp – ‘Remind Me’

If your life was a tune, what would it be and why?
This is not an easy question, but I would say Ry X – ‘Spiral’. I love it and don’t get tired of listening to it every day, it inspires me.
If your music was a colour what that colour would be?
Definitely blue
What would you work as, if you were not a DJ?
When I was a kid always dreamed of being a plane pilot but probably would be something related with technology
Imagine you could have any animal assist you in the studio. Which animal would you choose and what role would it play?
A dog for sure, I love animals but dogs for me are the best. It would help me to disconnect every hour to go for a walk or whatever hahaha.
