The Newcastle University is the first university to let it’s students test the drugs. They can buy an £3 testing kit, which contains a chemical ingredient which changes it’s color in reaction to different substance presence.
For instance, if said to be an an MDMA pill is purchased, the buyer can test if it is indeed MDMA and not a dangerous and few times stronger designer drug.
The initiative is brought to life in association with the Newcastle branch of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP).
The SSP President said: “Statistics show that a lot of student communities do use recreational drugs. Although drug taking is illegal, people will still engage with them but the health and wellbeing of people has to come first.”
That’s a smart step towards decreasing the drug misuse that leads to hospitalizations and deaths. Not banning the clubs.
